Lock Down Your Wi-Fi!

Mistaken FBI Porn Raid Underscores Wi-Fi Privacy Risks.

It can’t be emphasized enough that if you own a wireless router, it needs to be secured (a.k.a., have a password).

It amazing how easy it is to find ‘free’ wireless Internet access these days. I can access it anywhere in my neighborhood at any time of day. I can take a walk with my laptop and should the mood strike me to look something up on the Internet–BOOM–instant access using someone else’s Internet access.

The story above highlights the absolute need to lock down your wireless router. It takes literally five minutes and besides making certain that some pervert isn’t able to download child porn using your connection, you protect your home network from some hacker who plays a nasty joke on you and uploads a virus to all of your networked computers.

It should cost you not more than $50 to have your wireless router secured, and it will save you all sorts of headaches, lawsuits, and financial losses.

Just do it.
